STATEMENT TO THE CONGREGATION
OCTOBER 23, 2025
Dear Church Family,
We are deeply grieved to learn of the criminal charges recently filed against Elton Thomas, which include allegations of sexual abuse involving a minor. These allegations are profoundly serious, and we recognize the emotional and spiritual pain they bring to everyone affected—especially to any victims and their families. Our hearts are heavy with sorrow for the victims, and we are praying for all who are hurting in this difficult time.
We understand that this news is deeply painful for our church family and may stir feelings of grief, anger, and confusion. Please know that we are here for you, and we are praying that God will bring peace, comfort, and healing to everyone who has been affected.
More than a year ago, upon learning of moral failures inconsistent with our church’s doctrine and code of conduct, Elton Thomas was immediately removed from all positions of leadership and ministry within our local church. Since that time, he has held no official capacity or authority in any ministry connected to our fellowship.
We have only recently been made aware of his arrest and the charges filed by the Sacramento Police Department. At this time, we have no reason to believe these charges are related to our church or any of its ministries.
We are committed to walking in transparency and integrity as we navigate this difficult situation. Should additional information come to light, we will respond appropriately and communicate with honesty and care.
Our church upholds a zero-tolerance policy toward misconduct, abuse, or any behavior that compromises the safety of others—especially minors. We are fully committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and care within our church community. The safety, trust, and well-being of every person entrusted to our ministry remain our highest priority.
While we believe in the biblical call to restoration, we also acknowledge that true restoration begins with repentance, accountability, and healing—and does not necessarily include a return to leadership or public ministry. Our prayer is that every person involved will find the grace, truth, and support needed to move toward spiritual and emotional restoration.
Though this season is painful, we remain confident that God is faithful and present in the midst of it all. We will continue to serve Him with humility and dedication, trusting that He will bring healing and redemption as only He can.
We ask our church family to join us in prayer for all those affected by these events and to trust the legal process to bring clarity and justice. Out of respect for the ongoing investigation, we will refrain from further public comment at this time. May God bring peace, comfort, and healing to all who are hurting.
With love and prayer,
Pastor Courtland & Melissa Younger
